Odd small Adjustable

It is an older patented pipe wrench but the lower (moveable) jaw is broken. It should have a shoulder that catches the groove in the adjustment nut. The handle is a poor replacement too.

It is obvious that the seller doesn't know anything about it. It won't adjust like it should with the tab missing. He says it works good?

In collecting I always say that a broken example is better then none at all. Once you have one you can always trade up to a better one. Sometimes finding even a broken one is difficult. I have several in my collection.
