I found a 10" Coes type wrench marked:
Zenith
M W H Co.  (Marshall Wells Hardware??)
Pat Jan 14 96

I do not see much from Marshall Wells on the West Coast...  Is this more common elsewhere?

Zenith hàs a beautiful logo. I have one of their hand saws. Zenith is Duluth's motto.
The ORIGINAL Northwoods.

That Davistown Museum article surely ties it down to Marshall Wells. Never knew they made planes and don't remember seeing your wrench or any of their planes.

Marshall Wells started in Duluth & evolved into a hardware wholesaler with house brands & distribution throughout the north & western U.S., into Canada & out into the Pacific trade from a west coast warehouse.

The patent date identifies the manufacturer as Peck, Stow & Wilcox -- they produced that "solid bar" wrench for a number of hardware wholesale houses as well as selling it themselves.  ( http://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?number=553059&typeCode=0 )
