Hi Guys just wanted to share a little project that I did with an old vise that I had laying around. I needed a good vise for my welding table that i built and so I decided to use a 1950's era vise that I had. It was in pretty rough shape but cleaned up nicely and is getting put to good use now

Chemical Paint stripper and lots of wire brushing

Masked off for paint. I wanted the working surfaces to be unpainted metal.

Finally mounted to the welding table and holding a rod bender that I built.

Thanks for the kind words, I figured you guys would understand the feeling you get when you restore something and put it to good use. You can't beat a quality tool no matter how old it is because it gets the job done right and doesn't leave you frustrated and cussing :)

Here's a little vid of it and my rod bender

It's a Japanese built Vise. Looks to be high quality and has lasted since the 1950s

Very nice job!  The red looks good on it.
Looks like it's maybe a copy of an English vice.  Maybe a Record or Woden.
