Stanley No.2 Tack Hammer
Described as 4" head, 11-1/2" handle, wood scales, made of malleable iron.
I think we have a "winner" here.

Gary, Thanks !!  Good eye, I think you nailed it, the measurements are exact.  Mikeswrenches was thinking it was a Stanley.
Using your info I found the below one on thebay, mine has a faint circle where the patent date would be.

For grins, check out this cut out version:

RedVise,

1887?  Alaska?  Cobblers hammer?  Where's this stuff coming from.

At any rate, you have your answers... Who, What, When; And a fine unique hammer to boot.  Enjoy it!

RedVise,

Here's a small photo clip from the 1934 Stanley Catalog showing available tack hammers at the time...  here goes:

That's just excellent, Gary!!  Might just have to clean 'er up a little now and print that page to go with it.

I made a video of his set-up and some of the things to be seen at this show but I have to wait for my wife to make it on0line to you-tube.

Walked out with some goodies myself

Great, looking forward to the video! And, yes you did nab some goodies, nice haul !

My wife was able to get the videos downloaded but for some reason they are horrible quality, Im going to have to fire the director I guess. Not worth viewing.
Always looking for what interests me, anything early Dodge Brothers/Graham Brothers trucks ( pre 1932 or so ) and slant six / Super six parts.

Must be lucky, I guess !  I picked up a similar hammer at this years show.
C.S. OSBORNE NO. 5 SADDLE MAKERS HAMMER - 544AI
7 INCHES FROM CLAW TO FACE OF HAMMER.  1 LB. 2 OZ OVERALL, GOOD HARDWOOD.

Also got to chat with Mikes wrenches / Mikes Vises, he easily has the nice tools on the nicest display in the show.

PS:  Big Show - the golf cart battery was dying as we went out the exit.

Hello, I found a similar hammer from Stanley in John Walter's book. "No. 4 Improved Tack Hammer" , Conklin's Patent, 12" long, walnut infills, one piece head, handle, & claw. Book lists it as being 12" long. I have one here someplace, if I run across it, I will post  a pic. Regards, Lou

Thanks for the kind words Brian.   I've met a whole bunch of really nice folks down there, many of them come by at every show. Makes it all worthwhile when people appreciate what you've done.

1930 also stopped by.  Haven't seen him for a couple years. Hope to see you both in February.
