Hello, I brought this home from the flea this morning. I believe it is a Bowl Adze, cutting edge measures 6-3/4" across the tips, and is approx. 8-1/2" across the curve of the blade. This is a beast, weighs in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces!!!!  There is a what I believe to be a French maker's stamp, I can't figure it out, it may have been over-stamped. Well made, looks to be hand forged? Looking for info on the maker. Regards, Lou

I've got one very similar, the lady I got it from brought it from England. Not saying it was made there because I can't remember what the marking on it are like. I'm on the road right now, I'll check it in a few days when I get home.

Yikes, 7 lbs.  that would be some wear on ones arms.  Guess the weight would be handy working down into hardwood.
