I have been hesitant to buy vintage miter boxes because they take up so much room, and my wife is already looking sternly at me as my stuff leaks out of the basement shop onto the walls and tabletops.
But this one was in such good condition and the Disston saw was so nice that I just had to grab it.  Although it does not show the Stanley logo, the forged in March 15, 1904 patent date seems (?) to indicate that it is a Stanley.  The Disston Institute tells us that Disston did not dabble in miter boxes, but happily supplied saws to several companies.  A wise decision that many modern companies could learn from.
The question:  How can I learn the Stanley (?) model # for my box.  I know that the patent only applies to the twin towers that hold the blade true.

Probably a no. 358 or 244.
