I was using a Lufkin folding ruler whaen I noticed it had the words "Oil all joints" on it.  Any recommendations or guidance on the type of oil I should use?  Would 3 in 1 oil be okay?

3 in 1 or sewing machine oil but don't stick it in your pocket right away.
