Hello, All. I took a ride Sunday to get these tools, still sorting & unpacking. The lock for the Gerstner was in a bag in pieces, hope to get it re-assembled. The burn mark looks bad, not sure how deep it is yet, future restoration project!!! Regards, Lou

Rude to ask, but I am going to anyway. How deeply did you have to dig to bring that haul home? I see over $1K there.....

Hello, I paid a fair price for what I had in front of me at the time of the sale. I knew the value of some of the pieces, some were a guess, some turned out better than others, a few were disappointments. These might have been a $1000.00 package years ago if all were new, but not in today's market, there are a lot of used machinist's tools out there.Regards, Lou

Clearly we live in different countries then because in KS. That is still a 1K pile or real damned close. The Gerstner box alone would account for a solid $300, even with the burn! LOL The mics in the box if not Chicom another $300. So ya, we do not live in the same country as far as the price of those tools is concerned.

For the life of me I will never understand why guys are so uptight about sharing what they paid for a pile of tools.

I for one, if I bought a group of items to resell, I would not say how much I paid for them.

that would be the same if you went to a hardware store and asked how much they paid for the item you were buying.

Hello, I have shared what I have paid for things before, especially if it was worth a gloat. This one is a toss-up, could go either way, once I am done sorting, and yes, the mics are Chicom. The ad was listed for $500.00, and after some close scrutiny, I was able to get a better deal. I will leave it at that.Regards, Lou

Wow, That's a nice haul. You very seldom see anything like that on my local CL. and it doesn't last long. You did extremely well at<$500.

Great deal there. Three things make me excited. A pretty woman, the smell of gasoline and a bunch of tools. Drool, drool.

I normally don't say what I paid for something either as most of what I buy, I buy to resell.  When I break that rule, I get bit it seems.

Yes, if you do that as a business I understand why you do that. I was speaking of just regular schmucks like me that buy stuff and drag it back to our cave to keep.

Gerstner boxes give me a warm fuzzy feeling. They are still made here in Dayton, OH by the same family for something like 100+ years. I have drove past the plant countless time. One of these days I am going to stop and ask for a tour.

Gerstner Tool Chests are in my opinion way over rated for the price they want for them.  I understand they got to make a living, but are way out of budget for me to afford.  Don't have much room to complain, I own three of them all bought used, the only way I can afford them!  I also have a Gerstner clone I built in high school, too!

Resell is fine , but I find it harder every month to find someone that knows how or wants to use a tool , let alone machinist tools.
Nice find , good luck on your sales.
Of all the things I've lost , I miss my mind the most

I can never let go of anything I buy, regardless of the potential profit. So it just keeps piling up, and will probably be sold at auction to the next generation of addict hoarder.
