First one I've seen with a round handle and it doesn't say craftsman

My guess would be that someone fit craftsman parts into a cheap handle!
VWs to D10s, I've fixed em.

Northwoods

I dunno.  It looks like a pretty good fit.
The ORIGINAL Northwoods.

It's a 1/4 inch drive I found it in some of my grandfathers stuff in a little green box with some sockets and an extension. So maybe it was only sold as a tool set.

I have seen a few of those made in Japan ratchets with a Craftsman style selector. It was born that way...

So apparently its just a Japanese ratchet set and they cloned the butterfly selecter from craftsman

Actually those in the little green box are, most probably, Craftsman as I have quite a few of those sets that my Father stored here in the barn as he was closing various auto parts stores.  They were sold under an agreement with Craftsman as well as I remember. I have never really paid any attention to them.

I would agree that c-man made a deal with some ????mfgr. over there to mfgr. these for consumption here in the states.     Was able to copy the butterfly design, however they still had to stamp them with the JAPAN name.    Sears also contracted some BF Craftsman tools that were sold over here as well and also had a few Made in Taiwan c-man too!

Looking for USA made ratchets-all sizes-drives and lengths  also S-K SuperKrome wrenches ditto.  Like to trade vs buy run it past me-nothing is cut in stone!

Cool thanks for all the information! I think the Ja on my ratchet goes with the pan on yours. Lol they couldn't get there stamps figured out.

They must have been sold under multiple names, as is common with older Japan socketry. I'm familiar with this branding, Hi-Test. That ratchet always says Japan only.

Found some pics on the web.
