Any idea when P&C tool made hand saws for wood were made ? Mine is a number 1680. It also says 10 point. I assume that means 10 teeth per inch ? It has some staining and some minor surface rust. It is still very sharp, but it is a wall hanger not a user. I don't want to wear off any of the markings on it. I am sorry I can't do pictures yet.

I just found the answer in a 1965 P&C catalog. It may have came out earlier. It is a 26 inch crosscut model.

10 points almost certainly means 10 points per inch, yes.  That would have been considered a fairly fine-cutting saw (these days, you see, not uncommonly, 12 ppi saws from the boutique makers, which seem way too fine to me - slow).

You'll sometimes see a number stamped into the heel of the saw, just above the tooth line, which is also a ppi measurement.
