Last week I was cruising ebay, and there was an interesting square -- simple square on one end, and at the end of the bottom leg, also a bevel guage arm.  Nifty! I thought.  Then I looked at the price.  $150.  Not that nifty.  So I kept cruising the old tools.  There was another square like this, not, I admit in the same condition but it looked functional.  Price?  $6.66.  I guest the Devil made me do it -- I clicked the buy it now button.

It's marked:
Hight's Union Combination Square
Patents pending
Manufactured by
The Hight MFG Co
Toledo Ohio

It has about 45% of the original nickel plating, but is fully functional.  Worthpoint lists one as selling in 2007, but I can't find anything more.  No patent number, no information on the company at all.

Branson, can you please post another photo? The one on ebay looks like it was taken with a pin hole camera with a dirty lense.

The best I can do right now is the URL for the one listed on Worthpoint:

http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-hights-union-combination-square-unusual

Mine's complete and working, just missing a lot of nickel plating, otherwise identical.

Thanks Branson. The Worthpoint photo is good.

Is anyone else frustrated by not being able to save a photo from ebay? If you know how, please let me in on the secret.

Sometimes that doesn't work.  In that case, right click on the photo, and you should get a menu with four options.  Click on "view selection source."

That will give you a bunch of gobbledygook like this:

<div class="ic-w300 ic-cntr"><div class="ic-w300 ic-m" id="vv4-44_idiv"><center><span></span><img style="width: 213px; height: 159px;" src="http://i.ebayimg.com/t/VINTAGE-OLD-SQUARE-/00/s/MTU5WDIxMw==/$%28KGrHqV,%21hcE5p24e5QyBOi0PNssow%7E%7E60_35.JPG" id="i_vv4-44" alt="VINTAGE OLD SQUARE"></center></div><div id="vv4-44_bdiv" class="ic-p ic-b1" style="height: 298px; width: 298px;"><div style="display: none;" id="vv4-44_t" class="ic-thr"><span></span></div><div style="display: none;" id="vv4-44_e" class="ic-err"><span>Image not available</span></div></div></div>

In this bunch of stuff you will find:

"http://i.ebayimg.com/t/VINTAGE-OLD-SQUARE-/00/s/MTU5WDIxMw==/$%28KGrHqV,%21hcE5p24e5QyBOi0PNssow%7E%7E60_35.JPG"

Copy and paste this on your browser, and you will get an image that you can right click and save.
