Flowers are, of course, generally reliable, and you don't have to worry about whether your date is dieting, diabetic, etc., as you do with chocolates.

I am not sure how to date them other than the early ones didn't have the extra lever to make them easy to release. I believe that extra lever appeared in the mid 1940's. I have a small pair still in the box that have a suggested retail price of $2.35. I have owned that pair since 1981. I got them from the estate of my wife's uncle who use to own Union Avenue Glass in Portland Oregon. I have around 20 pairs of original Vise Grips and about the same amount of American made knockoffs. I like models that have you can cut small cable with.

the one in question,has on the lever part of the handle,made in usa,then in script "the original since 1924"...guess 1980s??????

This is one that I have, 75th Anniversary Edition, with "The Original Since 1924" in script on the lever handle. Purchased in 1999. Regards, Lou
