Hello, Does anyone have an idea what this might be?? Appears to be made of solid brass, and clamps onto something.Overall length is 10" . I have an idea, but could be way off!! Regards, Lou

Some kinda power transmission for rotating machinery.  Looks vaguely familiar.

Hello, Al. It's nickel plated brass, so I don't think it is very strong. Are you thinking automotive? Sewing Machine? Regards, Lou   "BTW, I have already stumped a local antique dealer"

Northwoods

The ORIGINAL Northwoods.

Hello, Northwoods. I don't think so, because of the brass construction. Regards, Lou

Seen something similar that clamps on you windshield a sun shade fold down. Most are just the metal cause the material disintegrates.

Hello, Al. The wear marks on the rod portion of these are the same on both, some sort of foot pedal? Is that what you  were thinking? Regards, Lou

Is there a pocket in that round hole?
Looks like a ball pivot goes in there?
Of all the things I've lost , I miss my mind the most

Hello, Lostmind. Yes , there is a recess, but it is quite shallow. The photo shows the size & depth of the recess. I still keep thinking it is from a kitchen or bathroom because of the plating. Hooked on to the thin edge of a cast iron lavatory sink as a towel bar? Barber shop chair accessory? Billiard table part? Toilet seat bracket, missing parts???? Nautical?? Regards, Lou

I think you are getting there with the barber chair idea, maybe a clamp on  foot rest for kids! I know I have seen it before, just can't quite place where.
VWs to D10s, I've fixed em.

I like your idea Lou. I can see that being a towel rack on the side of a pedestal or wall hung sink
A person who could really read human minds would be privileged to gaze on some correct imitations of chaos.
