This is an old multi tool plier from the early 20th Century.  Eight inches long, weighing in at .935 pounds.    Not quite as heavy as Plierenches,  It isn't perfect, but it is the first one I've seen. It is missing a small chunk on one of the plier jaws. It has a hammer poll and pliers.  I used it today to drive hook nails for picture hanging.  It works well.  Similar to Washington Pliers it doesn't have a screwdriver tip on one handle.  The hammer poll is much more substantial than Washington Pliers. The pliers are imprinted with No. 42-08.  I'm not aware of other sizes.

Interesting I have 60 pair of Bernard tools in a display plus severel pair loose in storage but I do not have a No 42.
I have a partial catalog of Bernard tools and it doesn't show a No 42 either. Must be fairly rare.

They are very different for Schollhorn Pliers.  Solid metal unlike the formed pliers most people think of when they think of Bernard/Schollhorn/Lodi/Sargent pliers.

Yadda, Thanks for the link! I didn't have that catalog.

I got a bunch of Bernard pliers in a box lot at Donnelly's this summer. I thought some of them were "specials" but there they were in the catalog. There were a lot, however, that weren't. Apparently they would make whatever someone wanted, judging by the oddball ones I got.

Bernard Tools like American Plierench Corp, were very adept at adapting their pliers to specialty uses.
