I really should know who made these wrenches

and in fact I used to know, but I cant remember

and that's the observation, as I get a bit older, I need to put tags on things or label drawers or keep a photo file to help my memory.

makes me a bit sad and a bit angry that my brain file just isn't what it was, after all we only need to know about  what, 100 or so wrench makers? and each one with several hundred tools.

The other day I came home with a really neat pair of pliers that I had never seen before, they did several  jobs and were a brand I hadn't seen. Cool!

I went to put them in the plier drawer and there were already 2 pair in there.

A place for everything and everything on the floor

I believe that was made by Bridgeport Hardware.

I wondered if it was just me.

I've bought duplicates before also.  I would vote for a photo file.  Tags fall off, label adhesive looses grip, and ink fades anyway.  I take photos of interesting tools as I find them and save to a file.  Also have a record of things I've sold which has been helpful, but I should add how much I sold them for.

Here are a few of mine. In the second picture you can make out the little BHM logo that stands for Bridgeport Hardware & Manufacturing. They were very early in putting metric measurements on their tools.
