I recently acquired a Sandusky No. 120 plow plane. The handle is contoured to fit into the palm of the right hand. Is this typical of Sandusky planes? Was it advertised as a "right handed" plane? Did they make a "left handed" plane?

I think this was a later "improvement" to their plow plane line. I'm not aware of a left handed version. Lefties were left out back in the day.

Thanks for the reply. Just went on EBay and saw a Sandusky No. 123 that also appears to have a contoured handle to fit the right hand. Now I wonder if Sandusky made any handled plow planes with a non-contoured handle. Saw none on EBay.

Yes, they made a conventional style handled plow plane. The contoured handled style was a later selling point, I'm not sure if it was patented or not. My Center Wheel has a conventional style handle and I have had other conventional handled Sandusky plow planes.
