Papaw,

You have got to break this silly habit of yours, going into hospitals, and get home, where the food's better, and no one wakes you up in the middle of the night to make sure you're sleeping OK.  Hope this visit is short, and that you're back home soon.

Yadda

You might say I have a tool collecting problem....

OK folks- I am out of the hospital again, but it looks like I am now going to have to see a kidney doc and perhaps begin Dialysis.
Not what I want, but it is what it is, I guess.

QuoteI just got out after 3 weeks in with kidney failure.  Saw a Dr. on my Birthday, Jan 27,  her and a Urologist called me on the 28th and informed me that they already had a room for me in University hospital and I had to go right away. Checked in at 10 pm and they were operating @ 4am. Put catheters in both kidneys out through my back because  the tubes from kidney to bladder were completely clogged. They told my wife that if I hadn't gone in that night I would have died that night. Gettin kinda tired of this old age crap!
That is tough to hear ! I am not that far gone.
VWs to D10s, I've fixed em.

Sorry to hear this, Papaw, but glad the docs got on top of it in time to keep you around.

My last real boss at the university where I worked had friends, a couple of whom the husband was on dialysis.  It's wondrous, compared to the old days: there's a national network, and you can reserve a bed online where you'll be if you're traveling (not that "travel" is much of a concept right now; but someday).  That doesn't make it a bed of rose petals, with servants bringing you treats, but time was, anyone on dialysis was stuck pretty close to home forever.

Papaw

I am not looking forward to dialysis, but if it does happen, I will make the best of it. I have a younger brother who goes three times a week and he has decided that he is long gone. All he ever does is go to dialysis and  grocery shopping.

I refuse to be like him.

My boss' friends were having a good time with their lives - just, he had to sit and talk to nurses regularly.
