What should I do with it ? Paint it make it cool hang it on my patio it's out of my old barn in n. Dak. It fell to the ground and I got it out of the hay loft of the barn for memories it is over 100 years old the barn was built in 1908 and has been through 3 generations of my family.

I wouldn't change the look if I owned it!! Clear coat on the wood, ( not sure what to recommend) and wipe down the steel with a soft cloth and a light machine oil!!

It's always been inside never rained on I can only fine 1 small sliver Crack in wood don't know if I should use some kind of wood conditioner on it or leave it as is.

I'm not the right guy to say for sure, but Boiled Linseed Oil works well on wood handles that  see weather  , I use it on rake handles, wheelbarrow handles, etc. , may darken the wood, though!
