Guys,

This little beauty came in the mail today!

scottg

This is actually a hand vise. Jewelers, diemakers, toolmakers, lots of trades used them.
Its a good vise too. With the cone and long jaw leverage it will bite hard!

Scott:

Thanks for shifting my paradigm!

(Question: if it is a clamp, why does its jaws only close to 3/16" from each other?)

Bob

scottg

If it only closes to 3/16" its binding somewhere. Some burr, or something in the bottom of the screw pocket, maybe a bent jaw? Something is hanging it up.
Its supposed to close and bite hard.

The 900ct of smuggled diamonds hidden in the handle are jamming up the screw mechanism. Oh, wait, too late, you already melted it down ;P
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Beat me to it!  Please don't toss any before a PM - I'm new to the tool collection phase of my life.  I'm sure you'd appreciate getting your money back out of such a thing, and I'd appreciate having the tool :)
"FORGED IN THE USA" myself.  Be good to your tools!

Yeah don't toss it!
Most of my tools showed up worse than this, when I met them!

Practically everything worth having needs a little work when you get it.
How else you going to truly love it?

I hope your kidding, I personally cant see the humor but I have been accused of  having a twisted sense of humor so who am I too judge  but if your not than all I can say is
Now theres a man that truly appreciates a nice wrench.....as long as he dosent have to do anything with except hang it on his wall to gloat over it :)

and Bob you must have led a very privledged life. Pity

Privileged, afraid not!  I got half my money back from the fellow that sold it to me.

These disposed items are chipped up and mixed with automobile chips, and then sold to brokers for eventual sale to a steel manufacturer.

Each tub weighs about 100 pounds!

Papaw

You know that one man's trash is another man's treasure, don't you?
Do you have no intention of selling any of those tools? There seem to be several in just two tubs that someone else might like to own. Your cast-offs could be just what someone else needs or wants. Some of us don't have the pleasure of being as selective as you.
