I was browsing some used tools yesterday and turned this wrench over to see that it was stamped "Japan" where the "USA" would usually appear. I would have to guess that these are fairly common, but I can't say that I recall ever having seen one before. Have most of you seen this before, do some of you have these wrenches? I may have to go back for it if no one has an example in captivity.

Yes, they date from the 1980s and are reasonably common.

By all accounts, they were just fine with comparable quality to the USA-made wrenches...

It did look and feel identical in every other way. I was tempted but I guess I'm glad I didn't pick it up, even though the price would have been as close to free as can be. I don't need another 'sub-type' right now. My space is getting a little bit crowded :(
Thanks for the info lb.

No sweat.

You can search GJ for a few threads on those wrenches; they've been discussed a number of times over the years...

I have one at work. Mine is a 15 MM. I have owned and used it 5 days a week at work for over 10 years. Has yet to wear out or break.
It's about the only C-man tool at work that hasn't grown legs and walked away.
