Wow! I don't know anything about machining but that looks like a fairly complete set of hand tools to me.

mrchuck

WOW!
Did these come from that "old woman" whose machinist husband that died, that you gave assistance to, and wrote about??

This is a very valuable set for a general machinist to have.

What are you going to do with them??

It came from a garge sale I stopped at. A older couple was running the garge sale and most of the stuff was older stuff. He had a bunch of machinest drill bits and machine tooling for mills and lathes but he wanted 1,000$ witch may have been reasonable for the several large bins of tooling and bits. Many were still new, i just dont know the market value on machine tooling and we wont be runing a lathe nor do I know the exact type of mill were getting so I didnt wana buy it an not need it or buy it and get ripped off. He wasnt willing to sperate the bits so I passed on that lot. Another lot he had was basic hand tools and a few tourque wrenches(1 snap on the rest craftsman) all in a craftsman service cart. I passed on that even thoe he was only asking 600, because as much as I wanted it I already had it all and need to save moeny for a truck of my own. Again not willing to seperate.

This lot actually works out perfectly because my cousin plans on buying a mill pretty soon for making larger mounting plates for solar panels an some other hardware so we wont have to buy those and can make our own cheaper. With maching those we planned on having to buy these to but we were just gonna wait till once we got a mill to worry about this stuff. But with these were ready to go once we get a mill and tooling.

We shook on 350 for all this, is this a good deal, I think it is. But maching tools is not something I am to familer with.

You got your moneys worth, for sure. That is a high quality, expensive bunch of tools. Well done, Neil!!!

Good score!  That Starrett combo with the center finder (one of my favorite tools) and the protractor doesn't come cheap.  It alone goes a long way toward justifying the 350 you paid for the lot.

lbgradwell

$350 for that is a spectacular deal.

Great stuff Neil!  I have never seen a 50's Cfaftsman box in that close to brand new condition. If you become proficient with all of that QC/ machinists measuring tools, you can get a job in any machine shop. Great score!

You can pick any 3 of the large tools you got.
You couldn't get them for $350.

I am looking at $2000+ retail,  if its a cent.
