Pretty sure it is not H D Smith. Montgomery Wards maybe. I won't be a player at that asking price.

The construction is like some of the Bridgeport Hatchets I've seen.  Doesn't look like a Smith.

That's what I was going to say. Bridgeport or Barr. Definitely not Smith. But then, I'd still be all over it it if it was cheap hehehhe

You all are probably right.
I was checking things quickly last night and I simply referred to the claims of the seller.
It sure looks a lot like Scott's hatchet.
Sorry
False alarm.
But happy Father's Day to all you fathers.
If you still have one here on earth, keep caught up.
They are gone waaaay too soon.

leg 17,

Don't give up the hunt for a PH hatchet.  Patent No. 939,458, Nov. 9, 1909 was for a hatchet.  Couldn't find one for a claw hammer.

I think it is probably a Wards Master # 3766.  Mine is for sale starting at $144.44.

Seller's written description says,"logo-ed "WARD'S MASTER" 3766"
