An odd piece I paid a fair price for, needed to know what it was.
The built in wrench makes me think it was for a specific purpose, not
a universal tool. The sliding collar locks the jaws ,and the shaft moves forward whan the handles are closed.
My first guess was automotive ,but really no clue.
Anybody ever see or use one?
Thanks Roy

My first guess was a spring compressor. It doesn't look big enough to be for valve springs if that is an 8 1/2X 11 sheet of paper its on. Looks like it wouldn't apply enough pressure to be a good puller. HMMMM

On the left side of the top photo , you can see a shaft potruding. This comes out whan you comprees the handles. Not sure how you would get the keepers in or out with this in the way.
I thought it was a valve spring compressor when I got it.
I've had several dozen in the past ,just don't see how it would work.
thanks for the input

Just a guess, but could it be for pulling the battery cable clamp off the post on an automobile battery?

Hi B. Davis. It probably would work on the old style cables. I tried it on the new ones on my Ford product and it won't latch on. The cable end is to small.
The wrench size is 9/16" ,most cable nuts were 7/16 or 1/2.
Looking like some kind of tractor tool from the 20's?
Keep guessing
