early pressurized lube method?  I know there are applications where high pressure lube is required.

From the photo it looks like the top is hinged and opens up. and there is a piece of hose at the bottom is that correct?  My guess is it is a grease gun of some sort.  It's crazy that back in the early days, they spent so much effort making things look so good.  Things like your what ever it is was so will made that we can't identify them because of the extra parts and pieces just to make them look good.
I will be following your post.

I would rather have tools I never use, than to need a tool I don't have.

Whatever it is, it is interesting, it looks like it has a foot pedal and a top end hand pump,so, I think the the guys saying it is a grease pump of some sort are probably right ( or maybe a gear oil pump) At the bottom on the right it looks like a broken or burnt off piece of hose which could have been the the outfeed line. Be interesting to see what the some of the other members have to say. It may be a jack but the neither the upper or lower pedal appear strong enough to support any great amount of weight. regardless of what it turns out to be ya gotta call it a good find, mainly because you have never seen one before.

Always looking for what interests me, anything early Dodge Brothers/Graham Brothers trucks ( pre 1932 or so ) and slant six / Super six parts.

Right near the top of the cylinder one can see the clamp holding the top on, against pressure.   Am thinking there is a top and bottom pump actuator, so it could be foot operated, or hand operated, depending on where you are lubing.  I have one that was pressurized by shop air compressor.
