Friday evening my wife and I traveled out of town so she could attend the funeral of a Great Uncle who tragically passed this past week, due to a farming accident. We decided to return home a different way than we used to get there, mostly cross-country on one-lane gravel roads.

The last road before the country trek began, has an old Bowling Alley turned Convenience Store/Hardware Store/Restaurant/Antique store at the beginning. We decided to stop there and grab a drink and some snacks for the long trip back through the country.

I found the tool pictured in the hardware section, for the HUGE ticket price of $5.95. I thought it interesting, mostly because of the several patents marked on it--two on the tip, one on the handle, and found another on the cap for the grip where the bits are stored.

Anyone know anything about Moline Tool Works??

The last photo is to show it as I found it, right before I opened it up and shared with you guys (and gals!).

The same section also had NOS Great Neck 10-piece screwdriver sets for $15.99/set. I'm stopping by the next time to buy one of those, since they were also marked Made In USA.

Moline Tool Works is just a brand name, trademarked in 1994, cancelled in 2002. Owned by Serv-a-lite Products, Inc. , East Moline. (Class: chisels, screwdrivers, pry bars and punches. )

Serv-a-lite is from 1979, and was bought by Hillman Group (2011) a distribution and retail merchandising company...

Serv-a-lite mostly made(makes?) fasteners and hardware...

The hardware trade is a whole lot more complicated these days than it used to be, yeash ...

I have several of the old Great Neck tools, when they were still USA made, they were definitely high quality. The old Great Neck adjustable's are good also ...
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.
