Here is a pic of my drill press, actually two of them, and they are identical.   The bottom one retains some of its original red paint, the top one I picked up as a spare.   I use these by clamping them in a vise, crank handle to the right.  The feed wheel on the right, moves the bit in.   The feed wheel on the left brings the work piece in closer.  I built the box to transport one, for blacksmith events, old cast iron is fragile.   These use the tapered square shank bits as used in a brace drill.  Have a few sets of metal cutting bits, and they certainly do work.  Anyone else have one?

Great drills!  I have a M-F that is on a round bar.  I like yours better.  Any marks or casting numbers?

Actually I have 3.5 of these, see them on the bay time to time.  Also referred to as a Feloe drill.  For drilling the hole in the feloe/rim of a wooden wheel for the spoke tenon.    Have seen another, with the date 1905 cast into the area just below that arrowhead cut out.

A felloe drill...  That really makes sense.   Thanks for the info!
