Allway Saw Handle

I found this saw handle at a garage sale. I think I payed a quarter for it. Lo and behold, they still make blades that fit it. I guess the design was a success. The blade seems fairly secure, but there is a little bit of play.

I looked around, and it doesn't look like it's worth much... I'm guessing that it is from the 30s from what I can tell, unless of course they made them exactly the same way with the same lettering for decades, and if that is the case, it could be newer. Any ideas?

They have, in fact, made them that way for decades ;P
The newest ones have more ergonomic handles tho, if you use one of those for about 20 minutes sawing something , you will readily understand why ....

(The patent is from 1935, but I think they were still making them like that up till the early 70's) - In theory, they shouldn't have a patent number stamped on them after the patent expired (50's) , but companies were lazy about that, there was no penalty....

Yup, they are still around (more or less), I have one in my tool bucket, very handyfor certain things...
