Who made this wrench?

Wrench X.  It's hard to read the markings from pitting and banging around.  One side has
USA N C on one side of the X and molybdenum on the other half.

The other side reads:

Patent No. and on the other half, I can make out 5 or six digits. (can't be right)

Who made this thing?

I believe it is bridgeport hardware.

There is some info on alloy artifacts.

Hm had one and I traded him for it then I traded it to Henry Hawk.

What it says on the handle is USA Nickle Molybdenum.

It is, there are only 5 digits because it is a design patent (design patents have their orn numbers, there are less of them, thus the numbers are smaller)

Only the nifty shape of the wrench gets covered by a design patent.

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.
