Paint color looks like Powermatic. Woodworking machine attachment?

Powermatic? color is close, another good guess.

But alas, neither are correct.


It's a bit obscure.

Hints:

distance between the jaws maxes out at about 15 inches.

It is used for a product made of wood and other material

Got something to do with barrel making? That is obscure!

Does it involve string?

Although it has no moving parts, it looks like it could make quite a racket when being used. :-)
