I always wanted some proto line wrenches, I just don't know much about them any advice on dating them or price. I saw these on Craigslist for 75, don't wanna spend that much.

That is actually a deal, IF you need them.  I believe those are specialty hydraulic line wrenches, even for aircraft use.  Someone correct me if wrong.  3 new name brand wrenches of that sort would easily top 75.

Look at it this way.  10 wrench's for $75 is $7.50 ea.  Can you get new ones that cheap?  Besides you should be able to get the guy down some on the price.  Offer him $50 and see what happens.  The worst is that he says no.

I agree; that's an awesome deal & I'd be on it! If he accepts less, all the better, but it's a deal at $75...

Stated $75 in the advert., said in person he meant/needed $275, then called back saying he'd take $60?

That is a bit confusing.
When I first read the thread I thought it was a dishonorable thing for the guy to do.
I also wondered if you hadn't 'tipped your hand', Nola and thought maybe the fellow had stumbled upon this very thread, which might have got him to thinking he'd underpriced his goods. Stranger things have happened.
$60 is a great buy though. Glad it worked out for you.

Bait and switch only works when someone buys. Walking away was precicely the right thing to do :)

Nice deal :)
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Outstanding!!
See?? Haggling, walking away, the guy comes up with a ludicrous price, you bring his mother into it, turn your back and walk.
He calls with the real offer!

Everybody wins.

One time I bought a whiskey jug from Louie. My buddy Rob wanted them. Lou says here, 50 bucks.
I say OK, here is the 50

Then we both just froze and evil eyed each other for 15 minutes! Did I pay too much? (i'm thinking)
Did I sell too cheap? (he's thinking)
   It was a strain!

Haggling is the only way to get that out of your system.

I wouldn't have let my Proto line wrenches go for even $275.....right Oily???  ...for fear of the Wrath of Kahn.....besides, they're mega cool and may never get used......scored a Par X 13/16" line wrench in that gaggle last weekend.  It might become a worker.....

That's the buy of the week as far as I'm concerned!!

Agreed. An awesome set - even more so at $60!

Now you need to find a 13/16" that matches.

(No, it doesn't matter that you don't think you'd ever need it.)
