About that grindstone and stand we were looking at recently:  another one has shown up on eBay this morning.  Looks like the same manufacturer.

My wife has one in her garde n   bob w.

 Old grindstones show up a lot. Even I have had a couple.
Mostly you see the ones that weren't very good, so they were barely used.
Most of the "good" ones you see have been worn down to a nub.

When these grindstones were popular, the good ones were expensive.
But people started cutting them out of any old handy sandstone.  Wood or metal stands galore. Sears and Wards and everybody sold them.
So, they looked fine, but poor stone made for soft and hard spots and made therm wear like a roller coaster very quickly.
Hardly anyone tried to use them after that. Why you see so many still around.
If you give one a spin and watch close you can see whether the stone is still round at all.

$300 is dreaming.  50 for yard art is closer to the mark for most of them.
This is what happened to mine. After I figured out you couldn't get them trued up to work as a grindstone no matter what you did? I let them go.
  I sold them as "primitive" art.
  It took me more hours than this to make the stands, but oh well.

He's not the only one, some of the prices at flea markets are getting a little "dreamers high" too.

Here some that are more reasonably priced.
