I never saw that particular one.
The combo units invariably offer the worst of two worlds though.
This one is very big and featherweight. Gangly fragile parts galore.
  Really, its only suitable for small work and yet the thing is very large. 
Its 24" long, and only really capable of working very small parts.

He was thinking of adding vise jaw to a "bridge anvil."  Google bridge anvil and several images pop up.  The advantage or purpose of bridge anvils pretty much escapes me, but several styles were made.

Made by the Chicago Flexible shaft Co, who specialized in large gangly things LOL

More interesting as on old object than a usable object , me thinks....

That unit was offered with a whole truck full of options.   The gears on the front jaw can run a drill/press, or a grinder.   The top lifts off, and on and on.  I wanted one til I saw how lightly it was made.
