Most people have seen the Yankee spiral ratcheting screwdrivers, and many of us here own them.   Yankee/North Bros. also made drills.  This eggbeater is a no.1530A, has a 5-position transmission with ratchet either direction featured.  But recently I came across this large wood handled screwdriver.   Fourteen inches overall, with the name on the ferrule, also has a knurled ring at the bottom of the ferrule.   Yankee also made a very good brace drill, with a unique ratchet.   Anyone else have a plain screwdriver?

I'm away for the weekend, but I have a bunch of old North Bros. ads I can post when I get back...

I've now got 4 Yankee spiral drivers with my plum handle purchase. A 133A Handyman, a made-for-Sears model, and two different 130A's.

Here are a few pictures of the two non ratcheting Yankee SD's I have.

One is a North Bros. non Stanley, and the other after the acquisition in 1946.  Finish is just about completely gone.

Here are a couple photo's of the "big brother" to John's hand drill.  It also has the same features, plus there is a 2-speed function that is operated by the little lever near the bottom of the big lever.  These are a very heavy and well made drill.  Typical of most North Bros. tools.
