Beautiful piece of wood.  Is there a plan for it?

how big is it? where did u find a thickness planer wide enough to get it surfaced? i got a slab of cherry about 30" wide i want to make a coffee table with. thanks and good luck.

Its 6' long, and wider at the far end in the picture so it looks rectangular, but isn't.
  It was levelled by an old plywood mill surfacer. Huge belt sander.
These are around and obviously made for 4' wide work.
Its not expensive if you have enough work to cover the minimum. Most guys want a minimum to fire up the machine.  Costly for one, but cheap for 9.............
My client was in a rush though, so she paid the minimum.

This only takes you so far.
Still took me 10+ hrs of labor to finish it.  Its big, you'll see when you tackle one.

Its getting legs of course.
My client couldn't decide which side of the slab she liked better, so I did both of them.
Yucky satin varnish, but its not mine so she gets what she wants. 

The base will be a sturdy apron/leg outfit that doesn't need to attach to the top for rigidity.
The slab will just float on it, sitting on felt padding.
  Then it can be flipped at will.
