anyone know who made "penncraft"brand for jc penney.thanks

They sent folks to Sears for warranty when they quit selling them. Probably whom ever was making them for Sears at the time?

New Britain certainly made "Penncraft" tools, while SK made "JC Penney" tools, but there may have been other suppliers.

Can you post a photo of the tool in question?

Very odd that JC Penney would refer customers to Sears for warranty as I don't believe either of those companies was supplying for Sears at the time (though both have been Sears suppliers over time)...

I talked to an old guy at the Flywheelers tractor show in Jan. or Feb. and he told me the same thing...that S-K had made the J.C. Penny tools.  I didn't think to ask him if they had made Penncraft too.  Maybe next time.

I dont have data, but I do have a pics of my 3/8" ratchets.
Thats the venerable 45170 SK ratchet next to 2 Penncrafts.
The shank on the Penncrafts is smaller, but the head design seems exact.
Those 3 ratchets are all I need for 3/8 work.

My experience was with the chrome open end wrenches. They looked a lot like SK. The chrome was
Peeling and I went to Pennys and that's what they told me. I never did try it at Sears though.
This was in the mid 1970's ?
