I had a 1/4" S-K round head rat with a buggared handle. Mechanism was fine, but the handle was unuseable. Figured it was a worthy contestant for a home-made palm rat project!
I cut the handle off right below the head, press-fit the head into an aluminum thrust collar, then formed a teardrop-shaped ring out of stainless and epoxied the mechanism into it. A final coating of plasti-dip and the thing was done.

Came out much better than I expected, and works darn nice, too! Use it almost daily, and I can use any 1/4" drive attachement (swivel, extension, etc) and easy to find sockets.

Thanks!
It wasn't really useable as it was, and now I can't imagine not having the tool. Plus, if the mechanism ever wears out, a common S-K repair kit will bring it back. Think I paid less than $10 for everything.

Nice job, love it. Like how ya did it.
And I'm proud to be an American,

And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

Quotea common S-K repair kit will bring it back.

With my luck, they would obsolete the repair kit the day after I made it....

Nice job, and a touch cheaper than a snappy super stubby....LOL

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.
