I Was Cleaning Some Diamond Wrenches up i just Purchased, and Noticed One Says "Special Alloy" With the Diamalloy logo...is this a Transition into the Diamalloy Era?...Never Seen one like this!

There are at least a dozen Diamond adjustables hanging in my shed, and none have the special alloy stamp, now i'll have to hunt a little harder. 

That extra metal on it certainly makes that adjustable unique.  I too, have a lot of Diamond adjs, but never seen one like this.

I like those kind of surprises. I have a 12" one. Found it on ebay awhile back. It's the only one I remember seeing till this thread. Since they have Diamond Tool on them I doubt they are a transition wrench. According to AA Diamalloy came into use in 1931 and the company name change to Diamond Tool in 1958.

I have not a clue. Been wondering about that also. But have yet to find an answer. Hopefully some one will know.

A new catch phrase " Special alloy" is cheaper than a new product.
Probably a marketing tool.

The phrase appears breifly in mid 1960's advertising, so yea,...
Perhaps people were writing them asking them what the heck Diamalloy was supposed to mean?

Any Diamond Tool that has a random number forged into it was manufactured after 1972. I worked there for 25 years.

So, where do the older "Diamond Calk and HOrsehoe Co." wrenches fit in??  My guess would just be a guess.....

Just the other day, I had need of a big adjustable and I remembered one I got from my dad. As I was using it, I was wondering about the Diamond brand, as I hadn't really ever noticed it before. That's why I love this forum. Looked here tonight and here's a thread about this very thing!

I looked around and found I had two of them, a 15" & a 10 ", but from different eras I think:

But then, I noticed something else. I was born in LA, and when I was a little kid, every time we happened to pass by this certain building, dad would always tell us about it being the biggest job he ever worked on (he was a plumber). As I was looking the 15" over, I saw that someone had engraved 'Arabian Gardens P, H & E' on it:



That was the name of the building! What a blast from the past! I was born in '58 and I'm pretty sure dad worked there before I was born, so if he stole that wrench from the Plumbing, Heating & Electrical dept of the finished project, it must be at least older than late '50's.

Those are coolwrenches !  I had a 8'' one I got used from friend . back in 1980  . it look old then .  It had a horse standing up on two legs  along with the Diamond tool an horseshoe company  on it .  I was at a job site working in shop 's celler   with one other guy from the plant . He wanted to buy the wrench ,   so the next day I found it missing !      years later I am still  piss off .    All so never seen one like it again !   Thanks  nice wrenches !   

They are marked Metric because they are "adjustable metric wrenches".
