Found this in a 1895 catalog (Chas A Strelinger)
Makes a nice summary of popular types....

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Very nice for the older pipe wrenches. Did you read the note at the bottom? Within the few months since the article was written, 19 new styles of pipe wrenches were issued!
He also rightfully says that at least fifteen of the ones he showed probably should never been discovered!
