I ran out of gas a while back, and had to buy a gas can.  For $12 and some change, I got a plastic monstrosity with all sorts of buttons and levers to push, hold down, etc., a fixed and inflexible spout, and it barely worked to pour gasoline.  I finally just took off the whole spout "assembly,"rolled a piece of paper for a funnel and poured the gas in the tank.  Probably broke 57 safety rules doing that.

I finally found a '50s or '60s vintage gas can and spout.  Sturdy sheet metal, and a flexible metal spout.  And it didn't cost $12!    The problem is that, like the old Jerry cans, there's a lid that screws into, not onto, the back end of the spout.  Well, on the one I found, that's missing.  Any of our imaginative members have an idea for a replacement?

And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
