I picked up this last word indicator but it's jammed up. Anyone know anything about fixing them? Seems like moisture got to it.

If pushing it in and releasing it doesn't fix it, it has jumped off the elliptic gear inside.
Fixing these things is not for the faint of heart, they have very very tiny parts, and are very fragile inside.
:(

You will need watchmakers tools to get it open, and possably to fix it.:(
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

This is making me laugh........because of the label in the box.  "Do not tamper with the instrument. If it does not function properly return it to the factory for adjustment."

Okay. So anyway - I am all for trying to fix it yourself if you can.  Hopefully you will find something obvious stuck and cleaning or a tiny drop of oil will get it to work again.

Haha... yeah, I assume they just want me to pay them to fix it! Honestly it's not worth much to me, I grabbed it at a garage sale real cheap. I did try the drop of oil already. What's funny is at the top of the label in big bold letters it says "KEEP FREE FROM OIL, DUST, ACID & MOISTURE". Obviously I read that after trying oil. All I need now is some acid & I officially did everything wrong!

First, do you really think there is anyone left at Starret who knows how to fix it?

It don't work now, what have you got to loose by opening it up for a look?
Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance!
