I found a blue grass 1/2 drive ratchet a while back which I am 99% sure it is made by wright. It has a part number 4425 and a rubber handle designed just like wright except it is blue instead of black. If you check that part number 4425 in a wright catalogue you will find it is a 1/2 drive long handle ratchet. I could not find anything on the internet about blue grass ratchets or tools. have you guys ever come across or own any these tools, or have any information about blue grass and wright relationship?

You're quite (W)right!

Wright did indeed make those ratchet for Belknap Hardware. They also manufactured an identical ratchet for Klein...

I think I may have a Bluegrass socket or two laying around here. Can't remember if they are 1/2" drive or not. Not real common to find, in my experience.

My vintage tool Want list:
Wards Master Quality 1/2" drive sockets (Need size 5/8), long extension, & speeder handle.
-Vlchek WB* series double box wrenches.
-Hinsdale double-box end round shank wrenches.

Funny that this thread should come up.
I had a nothing but tools "garage" sale last weekend and someone asked me if I had any Bluegrass tools.  I'd never heard of them.

edit I just read the thread that lbgradwell linked to GJ and found that I mentioned on there a year ago that I'd never heard of them.
I guess CRS is really taking effect.

Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Belknap made bluegrass tools for many years, but I never heard of them either, untill I researched my bluegrass claw hatchet. That is the beauty of this site, in that we learn something new everytime we log on. I have one of their 1937 catalogs, but am unable to find your ratchet in it "wvginseng". It could be it was made at a later date, Welcome to the site!

I would say it was made no earlier than the 50's but probably in the 60's or 70's

I came across a blue Grass #34 1 1/16 combo wrench in a bunch of stuff I was going thru in the garage.Kinda has a Wright wrench feel to it.

Belknap made bluegrass tools for many years,
Correction Belknap was hardware jobber/wholesaler and sold tools made by other manufacturers with their Bluegrass private brand imprint. I don't think they manufactured anything.

Correction: From what I have read, they did in fact make some of their own tools on there 37 acre plant site!

Didn't know that. Do you know which tools they made?

Yes, but cannot name them off at this time! I will have to dig thru my unorganized pile to dig them up, which could take some time! I will put you on my list of things to do, and get back to you ASAP!
