Some nice old woodworking tools I picked up this past weekend:

My heart goes out to you, having to find somewhere in your shop to put all those obsolete old tools.  If you run out of storage places, let me know, and I can send you my address.

What is the device with the capstan and the long arms in the last photo?

Nice tools indeed, Lynn! Congratulations! I am researching Atha tools at present - especially hammers. Are there any maker's marks on the hammers in your haul?

Bill, thank you for your kind offer. Space is certainly at a premium these days.

The tool you refer to is, according to the imprint on it, a Greenleaf Cord Wood Caliper made by F. M. Greenleaf of Belmont, Mass. F. M. Greenleaf was Florence "Flossie" Greenleaf, the daughter of William Greenleaf. She was a violinist and violin teacher, and took over producing these log calipers when her father died.

James, no Athas in this haul, but I do believe I have one or two tucked away. I'll dig them out and get back to you.

The brass clad brace is a work of art , very nice goodies :)
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

wow that is a nice group of tools. Don't do wooden planes due to ignorance but do appreciate them.

Nice haul Lynn, the plow planes look interesting as well as the log caliper/measure, plated brace and is that a number 1 size or a number 2 size plane? Molding planes look to be exceptionally clean, I don't know much about them but that set looks nice. Any hard to find makers in the planes?

dowdstools

That's a Stanley No. 1. I haven't researched all the plane makers, but there are a few in there I don't recognize.

WOW................. just don`t know what else to say.

Chillylulu

Very, very nice.  And a stanley #1?

The whole group looks perfect.  It makes a beautiful collection on its own.

Nice find.  I like it all - especially like that little whale plane, not to mention all the others.  Ralph
