Vlcheck socket. My first and only. Anybody else see these around?

vlcheck was a old company founded in 1895 only made sockets, ratchets and related tools for a few years in the 1930's. later they were bought out by pendelton (PROTO) tool company in the 1950's and PROTO started making sockets under this brand name. See that star imprint on the socket, if you get a PROTO socket of the same time period it will have that same star because I have some proto sockets with that same star.

Interesting. I was surprised to find this lone ranger in a bin at a local store. I have yet to see any Vlchek early production sockets or drive tools. I have seen a few that may have been, but the markings were too obscured to tell for sure. I get lots of wrenches but never any sockets.

I have never seen one either, they seem to be hard to find, at least around here. I agree the shiny one is branded Proto production, not the Mfd USA tag on it.

The other one that I hardly ever see here is OTC sockets...i think I have 2 after years...
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.
