I don't know who's going to have more fun with this  - me or my grandkids.  The chassis was given to me and the engine is from an old SnoThro.  Have to skrimp and save for a clutch and a throttle cable.

You, because you'll get to have fun while you're driving it and fun while you're watching the grandkids drive it.

Nice go-cart. Is that about a 8 horsepower motor ? I am collecting parts for a mini bike project. I have found a 8 h.p Briggs motor with a forward and reverse transmission on  i may build a trike and us the tranny . I have been watching Craigslist around here and people want insane money for go-carts and mini bikes.

It's only a 4 HP engine which is OK because parts are inexpensive and available.  The carb is Pulsa-jet - not much can go wrong.  This engine has been sitting for over 15 years and all it needed was to clean and gap the points.  From what I have heard about this kart the 4HP should be adequate.
Karts and minibikes are stupid expensive on CL around here too.

That looks like it could be a lot of fun, what is it going to have for brakes?

It has a band brake, but...... it's only on one wheel (left rear) and there is a tension limiter (spring) in line with the brake rod.  And the tires - even if it locks up there's no tread - it's just gonna slide.  It does have neat little link that when you lift it locks in as a parking brake.

My grandson should do OK with it.  He's used to our minibike which has even less braking.  It's got one of those "paddle brakes"  that presses on the rear tire - kind of like the wood carts in "Our Gang" films - a stick with a nail pivot to rub on the tire!
