Any markings on them what so ever? Looks like something near the handle on the wooden handled one.

Looks like initials of a PO on the wood, but there is something stamped on the ferrule. We can guess at the size considering the leather, but tell us more.

By the way, welcome to Tool Talk!!

The wooden handle is marked with Lutz File and Tool Co. of Cincinati,OH.. The others with the leather thongs have Tool #9 on the back. I check the Lutz site and I think just the handle is a Lutz product.

For removing wood plugs?

I've seen tools like this for removing components plugged into printed circuit boards.

Depends on the distance between the fork prongs, but we used to use something similar to remove the window crank handles on GM vehicles.  Remember rollup windows?  Between the time that they had a set screw & the time that they just slipped on, they had a contained spring clip that you pushed out with a fork.  You are correct that the handle is just a universal file handle.  Gene

They may have been home made for a special purpose and one of them made for a file handle., I made tools all the time when I worked on cars.

I think I got it.  I found "wedge sets for removing taper mount chucks from arbors or chucks"  Picture on the bottom of the page at:

The ones pictured here have the same business end though not the length as Granpastoy's.

Here is what was sold 40+ years ago for removing window crank handles from my 1970 Chevrolet Malibu 4-door Sedan (bought new for $2900!).  The Patent No. on the tool is 3196530, the K-D No. is 431, and the tool was made by K-D Manufacturing Company of Lancaster, PA.

You can still buy that tool of the tool truck, many cars are still using that clip deal that the tools works for
Always looking for what interests me, anything early Dodge Brothers/Graham Brothers trucks ( pre 1932 or so ) and slant six / Super six parts.

Possibly a valve spring lifter for side valve engines? Check the tool sold by Briggs and Stratton for that purpose. Al.
