Looks like to good of condition, ime guessing it's been redone at one time or another.

I posted it quick because a few weeks ago there was a really very unusual vise on CL.  The next day I was gonna put a photo of it here - but it was gone.

That Stanley box is well worth sharing.

Does anyone know what era it's from? I didn't know of it.

Seems there was an 850, 8 1/2" deep x 25 3/4" long x 29 1/4"high, a 851, 8 1/2" deep x 19 1/2" long x 26 5/8" high and a 852, 6 1/2" deep x 14" long x 22" high. They were all made between 1922 and 1942. No tool prices listed in John Walters book don't go any higher then $500 surprisingly. I've seen them before at catalogued auctions but never really watched the prices that closely.
