When I first looked at these I thought they were your usual Button style wire cutters.  However when I got to the inside of the handles I noticed a patent date of 12/7/09 forged on both sides.

Patent number is 942,504

A look at DATAMP showed the patent but with the note that they were not known to have been produced.

Surely there must be more around somewhere.  Like all Uticas these are of very good quality.

Mike here is the 6.5" version. No Patent date, but that very clear Utica brand like yours.

Since I'm DATAMP "steward" for the patent, the corrections & emendations are forthcoming.

Utica's reputation for great pliers is legendary.

When Cooper Tools bought out Bonney in 1990, I heard it was specifically to get their hands on Utica's plier division. The rest was all just icing to them.
