Thrown away tools

A buddy of mine brought me a wet cardboard box with some rusty tools in it that someone near his workplace had thrown away.
Couple of eggbeaters, a brace, a plumb bob, a pair of pliers, an impact of some sort. an OE wrench to be cleaned up, an adjustable auger bit, some big washers, and some kind of mason's tool.
All will get cleaned up at least enough to see if they are worth more attention.

I really hate to see that stuff happen.   What the pics show, I can tell both eggbeaters are worth cleaning up.   The brace is not a ratcheting type, but probably usable  in any case.  Glad you rescued them.

It looks to me as if the one egg beater is set up as a valve lapping tool. Glad you saved them!

The egg beater with the bit storage in the handle looks like it might be a Millers Falls.  At least it's a higher end drill than the other.

The plumb bob is just neat!  Great contours.  Easy to find an appreciative home for that one.

Looks like some of the stuff ive saved from the dump. Its really a shame what some people throw away.

The impact tool looks like one I have, but cannot find the nails nor charge to make it work.
The plumb bob with the lead weight is somewhat confusing, as to the use of a lead fishing weight attached to it.
Nice re-storable  tools and ALSO AWAITING THEIR "CLEAN-UP.

Both the eggbeaters show promise. Neither looks to be the most common style of drill.
And anyone would like that plumb bob, its a keeper

Yeah, triple ditto's on the plumb bob, it's a nice one :)

Leftmost eggbeater reminds me on the one I has as a kid, think it was MF, or a close copy, nice usable size in any case.

Not when you need to toss the other end of the string over a rafter....
(An old washer is cheaper tho, and I see papaw has several extra ones ;P)

Vinegar is working on the major rust. Eggbeaters still frozen.
The plumb bob is brass and I am waiting for the weekend to do some cleanup on it.

The impact tool has a drill bit in it, not sure why, but I haven't tried to do anything with it yet.

is the plumb bob liquid filled?,i have never had one,but believe they used mercury

I have the same "impact" tool". Took it to several hardware stores trying to find the powder charge cartridge, and nails.
They said it was not used anymore in the constriction trade. An antique.

The impact tool is a Rawldrill.  There were other brands also.  It is a hand hammered masonry drill with replaceable bits.  There should be a slot above the bit (which has a shank that looks like a small Morse taper shank), where you insert the drift to take the bits out.  The small drifts are harder to find than the drills, and you probably would not even know what it was if it was not with the drill.  You may think it is a masonry line pin.  I have used an old screwdriver as a drift before.  I sell them occasionally on Ebay.  I may still have a few bits left around here I could send you if you take the bit out and give me the two dimensions on the tapered part.

I see that. Looks like there was a set screw there at on e time. Still too rusty to see, I haven't started cleaning it yet.

The eggbeaters are still frozen! I haven't spent much time on them yet.
The plumb bob is getting cleaned up first. I have washed it with soap and water for now, and will work on it this weekend. It is brass and has a steel tip that is rusty.
