Hey guys sorry I haven't been on tooltalk much lately. Well ive been on but not as much as I use to.

I start a second job at a custom cabinet shop tonight. This one will just be part time. Its pretty much restocking all the hardware and cleaning up. Its a job for now. Pretty worried an hoping someone can give some words of advice.

Polish your organization skills and learn how the boss wants things done.

Learn all you can about the product you are stocking, it will serve you well in the future.
Above all else, demonstrate the work ethic you have already shown. It will be worthwhile, even in a part time job.

Work hard, be on time, ask for help when overwhelmed, be polite, avoid complaining, give 8 for 8, and look out for your company.

In short, be yourself.  Keep us up yo date.

See how the guy who signs the checks wants you to do it! everyone has an opinion on how they like it done. Most likely the shop foreman is the guy to please. I was told 5 different ways by 5 different people to sort and stack a truckload of sheet steel. So I went to the boss! I didn't say I had a problem just needed clarification on how he wanted it done. Keep notes on when you stocked and sent a note you were low. Good Luck!

Along with your good work ethics, many jobs look for good safety practices, wear safety gear, work (lift) safely, think safety!! for them it's a liability thing...
