I stopped at a garage sale
« on: June 30, 2014, 10:10:06 AM »
Stopped at a particular garage sale, same one I was at a month ago.   Fella brought out more tools.  Had an SK hip roof box too, but awful rough shape.   I left it along with the four foot long carpenters box.  Wrenches,  among the foreign made items I pulled out a 5/16 Par-X in chrome, and the big round shank, possibly an alignment wrench, specialty tool without a brand name.  North Bros. Yankee in fine working order, Stanley screwdriver,  wood plane,  hammers, handsaw, no name yet,  Stanley brace, and a pair of trucks for the shelf.  Not adding the trucks, I forked over about 13.00.  Oh, not pictured saw the coal scoop/shovel.  Stopped at two more garage sales, and saw a beat up axe with a broken handle.   Anyone else having any luck?

Nice finds, hard to stop at yard sales when an 18 wheeler is crawling up my ass. He was leaving me with no choice but to move on, and I obliged.

Not too much luck with garage sales of late. Summer heat in Az tends to take the wind out of your sails fast. Better luck during the rest of the year.

Most of my activity has been on the forum classifieds and ebay.

Mr. John, would you mind zooming in on the screwdriver laying in the tray?  I'm particularly interested in the ferrell.

(EDIT) No garage sale time for me so far this year.

Oily,

I feel your pain.

Scottg has made a lot of nice and interesting ferrules using scraps of copper, brass, and steel pipe.  His ferrules look way better than the originals.  And they work.

Shoot him a PM and ask him to post up some photos of his handy work and some how-to's.  You'll be glad you did.

Will have to retake a pic of the screwdriver.   It is stamped Stanley, black paint on the wood handle.  The ferrule is tapered and ends in a  knurlized bit that looks like it should turn off, but made all of one piece.
